After owning the property for over twenty years, the current owners met award-winning restoration Architect and Interior Designer at a dinner party and subsequent to a site visit offered to enrich the property’s existing features and totally modernise the property and create a dream Tuscan home with all creature comforts and unique touches.
The Architect had previously restored and converted four Borghi (derelict Tuscan Hamlets with multiple homes) before he personally supervised the complete restoration of American author Frances Mayes’ home above Cortona, Casa Fonte delle Foglie. Mayes often cites Di Rosa, as being amongst the best in his field.
The Architect agreed to restore/refurbish La Magnolia as it had all the traditional architectural qualities (exposed wooden beams, antique terracotta tiled floors and ceilings and stone arches) of a genuine Tuscan stone farmhouse.
His meticulous efforts using only the highest quality materials and his team of experienced skilled craftsmen has allowed La Magnolia to maintain much of its original feel, atmosphere, and charm, but now benefits from all modern day comforts and conveniences. The Architect personally sourced many of the unique rural Tuscan antique pieces from local antique markets and his attention to detail, fixtures, and fittings is sublime.
The restoration took over 12 months to complete and addressed every detail of the property using authentic, historic materials for the interiors as well as a complete upgrade and modernization of all systems (electric, plumbing, security, septic, heating and A/C) and infrastructure (beams, flooring, drainage and damp-proofing, windows and security system, shutters and insulation).
